《Journal of Rare Earths》(稀土学报)(英文版)于1990年创刊,由中国稀土学会和北京有色金属研究总院主办,北京有色金属研究总院承办,北京大学协办,北京大学徐光宪院士任主编,是报道稀土理论研究和应用技术的稀土类综合性学术刊物。主要报道有关稀土化学与湿法冶金,稀土金属学与火法冶金,稀土新材料,稀土固体物理与固体化学,稀土应用研究,稀土分析检测;稀土地质、矿物和选矿等方面的学术论文、综合评述、研究快报、研究简报。
与国内同类英文版期刊相比,《Journal of Rare Earths》具有创刊历史较长、内容主题突出而又涉及领域广泛的特点。《Journal of Rare Earths》是世界上唯一一本专门报道稀土基础理论和应用科学研究工作的英文版科技期刊,刊登有创新内容、实验数据较完整且学术水平较高的研究成果及热点研究领域的领先成果的首发论文。《Journal of Rare Earths》编委会目前有11位国际编委,2006年开始由国际著名出版集团爱思唯尔公司(Elsevier)公司在其网络平台发行本刊网络版。
在注重稿源质量、内容质量的同时,《Journal of Rare Earths》非常重视出版质量。根据新闻出版总署报刊司2008年3月10 日发布的“关于外文版学术期刊编校质量检查结果的通报”(新出报刊司[2008] 102号),在列入检查范围的148种外文版学术期刊中,合格期刊仅44种,该刊名列合格期刊的第23名。
